TG EAPCET

Overview

The Telangana Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test, or TG EAPCET, is conducted once a year by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) on behalf of the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE). It was earlier known as TS EAMCET (and before that EAMCET); “Medical” in the name was replaced by “Pharmacy” because medical admissions now go through NEET, and the state abbreviation changed from TS to TG in 2024. The test is an online, computer-based exam held over several days in May, with separate sessions for the engineering (MPC) stream and the agriculture and pharmacy stream. There is no negative marking.

What TG EAPCET is used for

• Engineering and technology: B.E./B.Tech seats (convener quota) at university colleges and government and private engineering colleges across Telangana, including many in Hyderabad.
• Pharmacy and allied courses: B.Pharm and Pharm.D, which MPC candidates can also choose; agriculture, horticulture and veterinary-related courses use the agriculture and pharmacy stream.
• Local candidates: 85% of convener seats in each course are reserved for local candidates of Telangana; the remaining unreserved seats are open to candidates who meet the additional eligibility rules in the notification.

Counselling and seat allotment

Engineering seats are filled through TG EAPCET counselling, run online by the Department of Technical Education, Telangana. In 2026 it had three phases (first, second and final). Each phase follows the same steps: pay the processing fee, book a slot and get your certificates verified at a helpline centre, enter web options in order of preference, check the provisional allotment, pay the tuition fee and self-report online, and finally report in person at the allotted college. Keep your TG EAPCET rank card, SSC and Intermediate memos, study certificates, transfer certificate and, where applicable, caste, income and residence certificates ready.

Important dates

TGCHE has not yet announced TG EAPCET 2027 dates, and no 2027 notification was available as of 25 September 2026. For reference, in the 2026 cycle JNTU Hyderabad opened registrations on 19 February 2026 (last date without late fee 4 April), held the engineering (MPC) stream on 9–11 May and the agriculture and pharmacy stream on 4–5 May, and declared results on 17 May 2026 (Telangana Today, Careers360). The notification usually comes out in February.

Eligibility

Passed or appearing in Intermediate (Class 12) or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects. For admission you need at least 45% in these group subjects (40% for reserved categories). You must be at least 16 years old as on 31 December of the admission year; there is no upper age limit for engineering.

85% of convener seats in each course are reserved for local candidates of Telangana, based on the study and residence rules in the notification. The remaining 15% unreserved seats are open to locals and to non-local candidates who meet conditions such as ten years' residence in Telangana or a parent or spouse employed with the state or central government in Telangana. Exam pattern

Syllabus

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education first- and second-year syllabus. Based on the 2026 exam, the engineering paper has 160 multiple-choice questions of 1 mark each (160 marks in total) to be answered in 3 hours, with no negative marking. Scores from multiple sessions are normalised before ranks are issued.
