Overview
The University of Lucknow was established in 1920. It grew from Canning College, founded in 1864, and is one of the oldest universities in Uttar Pradesh. Its main campus sits on the banks of the Gomti at Badshah Bagh, with a second campus on Sitapur Road.
It is a state government university recognised by the UGC. Faculties include arts, science, commerce, law and education, and it offers computer applications (BCA/MCA). The university also affiliates colleges across Lucknow and nearby districts.
