Overview

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET-UG, is the single national entrance exam for undergraduate medical and allied courses in India. It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The NEET-UG 2027 dates have not yet been announced by NTA.

What NEET-UG is used for

  • MBBS and BDS: NEET-UG is the only entrance for MBBS and BDS seats in government and private colleges across India.
  • AYUSH: BAMS, BUMS, BSMS and BHMS admissions also use NEET-UG scores.
  • B.Sc Nursing: many states and institutions use the result for B.Sc Nursing admission under their own criteria.

How counselling works

  • 15% All India Quota (AIQ): counselled by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). This also covers AIIMS, JIPMER, central universities, AFMC, ESIC and deemed universities.
  • About 85% state quota: counselled by the designated state or UT counselling authorities, per their own notifications.
  • AYUSH: the All India Quota is counselled by AACCC.
