Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology (MSIT) was established on 5 September 2001. Its campus is in the Techno Complex at Madurdaha, Uchhepota, beside the NRI Complex in the Rajpur Sonarpur area on the south-eastern edge of Kolkata, not far from Anandapur and the EM Bypass. It is a separate institution from the Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology in Delhi, which uses the same MSIT short name.

MSIT is a private engineering college affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) and approved by AICTE. B.Tech branches include Computer Science & Engineering with specialisations such as AI & ML, Data Science, Cyber Security and IoT, CS & Business Systems, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, Electrical, Civil and Mechanical, plus newer options like AI & Data Science and Electronics & Computer Science.
