Overview

COEP Technological University, still widely called COEP, is one of India’s oldest engineering institutions, with a history that goes back to 1854. Its main campus stands on Wellesley Road in Shivajinagar, close to the heart of Pune, and the university also has an extended campus at Chikhali in Pimpri-Chinchwad. In June 2022 the Government of Maharashtra gave the former College of Engineering Pune the status of a technological unitary public university.

COEP is a state public university (degree-awarding) of the Government of Maharashtra, accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade, and it is placed No. 90 in NIRF 2025 Engineering. B.Tech branches are Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication, Instrumentation & Control, Mechanical, Manufacturing Science, Metallurgy & Materials and Robotics & AI, alongside a Planning degree. It also runs M.Tech, MBA and PhD programmes and has hostels.

Most B.Tech seats are filled on MHT CET scores and the rest on JEE Main for the All India quota, all through the Maharashtra State CET Cell’s CAP rounds; a small share is set aside for NRI, OCI/PIO and foreign national candidates. Eligibility

Class 12 (HSC) with Physics and Mathematics plus Chemistry or another allowed subject, meeting the Maharashtra State CET Cell's minimum marks, and a valid MHT CET score (or JEE Main for All India seats).

Admission process

About 80% of B.Tech seats are filled on MHT CET and 20% on JEE Main (All India) through the Maharashtra State CET Cell's Centralised Admission Process (CAP); a supernumerary share is kept for NRI, OCI/PIO, foreign national and CIWGC candidates.
