Overview

Pune Institute of Computer Technology, known across Maharashtra simply as PICT, was set up in 1983 and is one of Pune’s best-known colleges for computing-focused engineering. The campus is at Survey No. 27 near Trimurti Chowk in Dhankawadi, off the Pune–Satara Road in the southern part of the city. Its students have won the Smart India Hackathon, and its ACM student chapter has been named India’s best chapter more than once.

PICT is an autonomous institute affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and holds an A+ grade from NAAC, awarded in its fourth cycle in 2023. It does not appear in the NIRF 2025 Engineering list. Undergraduate branches are Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electronics & Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, with postgraduate and PhD options as well. Separate hostels for boys and girls are available.

First-year seats are allotted through the Maharashtra State CET Cell’s CAP rounds, using MHT CET percentiles for state seats and JEE Main for All India seats. Eligibility

Class 12 (HSC) with Physics and Mathematics plus Chemistry or another allowed subject, meeting the Maharashtra State CET Cell's minimum marks, and a valid MHT CET score (or JEE Main for All India seats).

Admission process

First-year B.E./B.Tech seats are allotted through the Maharashtra State CET Cell's Centralised Admission Process (CAP) on MHT CET scores, with All India seats on JEE Main.
