D. Y. Patil College of Engineering (DYPCOE) was established in 1984 at Pimpri and moved in 2001 to its present home in the D. Y. Patil Educational Complex at Sector 29, Nigdi Pradhikaran, Akurdi. The campus lies in the Pimpri-Chinchwad part of the Pune metropolitan region, close to Akurdi railway station, and shares the educational complex with other institutes, giving it a busy student neighbourhood on the city’s north-western side.

DYPCOE is a private autonomous college affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), with autonomy from the 2024-25 academic year. It is approved by AICTE, recognised by DTE Maharashtra and accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ grade, and its IT, Civil, E&TC and Instrumentation programmes carry NBA accreditation.
