The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released its tentative examination calendar for 2026-27, and it gives JEE Main aspirants their first firm planning dates. According to the public notice dated 16 September 2026, JEE Main 2027 Session 1 is scheduled for 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30 January 2027, with 31 January 2027 kept as a buffer date.

These dates are tentative
NTA has made clear that the calendar is provisional and does not count as the official notification for any exam. The detailed information bulletin, with the final schedule, eligibility rules, exam pattern, syllabus and fees, will be published separately on jeemain.nta.nic.in when registration opens. Treat the January dates as a planning guide, not a guarantee.
What else is in the NTA calendar
The notice covers 14 national-level exams that NTA proposes to hold between December 2026 and March 2027, including UGC NET and CUET PG. NEET UG 2027 and CUET UG 2027 are not part of this calendar, as they are usually held later in the year.
What JEE Main 2027 aspirants should do now
- Plan your revision backwards from 22 January. That leaves roughly four months to finish the syllabus and move to full-length mock tests.
- Keep your documents ready before the form opens: a recent photograph, your signature, Class 10 details and Class 12 details, and a category certificate if you have one.
- Check which colleges use JEE Main. Beyond NITs, IIITs and GFTIs through JoSAA, many state and private colleges also accept JEE Main scores, for example in Delhi through JAC Delhi and in Maharashtra through the CAP rounds.
- Watch only official channels for the registration link: nta.ac.in and jeemain.nta.nic.in.
