IIT Delhi is set to be the organising institute for JEE Advanced 2027, the exam that decides admission to B.Tech and other undergraduate programmes at the IITs. The organising role rotates each year among the seven zonal IITs under the Joint Admission Board (JAB). The organising IIT runs registration, the exam, answer keys and results.
When will JEE Advanced 2027 be held?
The official exam date has not been announced yet. Going by past years, JEE Advanced is usually held in May, a few weeks after JEE Main Session 2 results, with registration opening in late April. Official announcements will appear on jeeadv.ac.in.
Who can take JEE Advanced 2027?
- Qualify through JEE Main first. Only the top performers in JEE Main 2027 Paper 1, about 2.5 lakh candidates across categories, become eligible.
- Meet the attempt and age rules in the JEE Advanced 2027 information brochure. Candidates can generally take the exam in two consecutive years.
- Meet the Class 12 performance requirement for IIT admission, which is checked at the time of seat allotment.
Exam format
JEE Advanced is a computer-based test with two compulsory papers of three hours each, held on the same day. Each paper tests Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The question types and marking scheme change from year to year, so read the 2027 brochure carefully when it comes out.
Timeline for a 2027 IIT aspirant
- October 2026 (expected): JEE Main Session 1 registration
- 22–30 January 2027 (tentative): JEE Main Session 1 exam
- April 2027: JEE Main Session 2, then the qualifier list for JEE Advanced
- May 2027 (expected): JEE Advanced 2027
- June–July 2027: JoSAA counselling for IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs
