Overview
International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad) was founded in 1998 and sits on Professor C R Rao Road in Gachibowli, in the western IT corridor of Hyderabad. The institute is research-led, with work spanning computer science, computational linguistics, cognitive science, spatial informatics, artificial intelligence and semiconductor technologies, and undergraduates are encouraged to join research groups early in their programme.
IIIT Hyderabad is a deemed-to-be university run on a not-for-profit public-private partnership model, and it is ranked No. 38 in the NIRF 2025 Engineering ranking. Four-year B.Tech programmes are offered in Computer Science and Engineering and in Electronics and Communication Engineering, alongside five-year dual degrees that pair a B.Tech in computer science with an MS by research in areas such as computational natural sciences, computational linguistics, computing and human sciences, and geospatial technology. Postgraduate and PhD programmes are also offered, and the institute is fully residential.
IIIT Hyderabad runs its own admissions and does not take part in JoSAA. B.Tech CSE and ECE seats are filled through the JEE Main mode on the institute’s portal, while dual-degree seats come through its UGEE entrance test, the Olympiad and Boards channels, and DASA for students abroad.
