Overview
BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus opened in 2008 as a campus of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. It sits at Jawahar Nagar in Kapra mandal of Medchal-Malkajgiri district, on the north-eastern fringe of the Hyderabad metropolitan region, roughly 27 km from Secunderabad railway station. The campus spreads over about 200 acres and is fully residential, housing more than 6,000 students along with its faculty and staff.
The campus is part of BITS Pilani, a deemed-to-be university, which holds an A++ grade from NAAC (fourth cycle, 2024). NIRF ranks BITS Pilani as a single institution, so the Hyderabad campus has no separate NIRF entry. Its B.E. programmes cover Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Instrumentation and Mechanical Engineering. It also offers B.Pharm, M.Sc., M.E. and PhD programmes, and all students live in campus hostels.
Admission to the B.E. programmes is through BITSAT, the university’s own computer-based test, with seats on the Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses allotted from one common application in order of score and stated preference.
