Overview

Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), Gandhinagar was established in 2007 as Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University under a Gujarat state act, promoted by the Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, before being renamed in 2020 to reflect a broader academic scope beyond energy studies. The university has built a distinctive identity around energy, petroleum and technology programmes alongside conventional engineering disciplines.

The university is UGC-recognised and its engineering programmes are AICTE-approved, offering B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Electronics & Communication Engineering. PDEU is particularly well known for its Petroleum Engineering programme, one of the few dedicated ones in India, and has built strong ties with the oil and gas sector alongside its more recent expansion into mainstream computer science and technology fields.
