Overview

Guru Nanak Institute of Technology (GNIT) started in 2003 and stands at 157/F Nilgunj Road, Panihati, near Sodepur in North 24 Parganas, on the northern edge of the Kolkata metro area. Sodepur station on the Sealdah main line and B.T. Road buses make it a practical daily commute from much of north Kolkata. It shares Nilgunj Road with several other engineering campuses.

GNIT is a private autonomous college affiliated to MAKAUT, approved by AICTE and recognised by UGC. It holds a NAAC A+ grade and has NBA accreditation for several programmes. B.Tech branches are CSE, CSE (AI & Machine Learning), CSE (Cyber Security), IT, ECE, Electrical, Electronics & Computer Science and Food Technology, the last being fairly rare in Kolkata. It also runs M.Tech, MCA, BBA, BCA and diploma courses, and has boys’ and girls’ hostels.

B.Tech seats are filled on WBJEE ranks through WBJEEB counselling, with JEE Main rank holders also eligible for seats in the same process. 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics plus Chemistry or another eligible science/technical subject as per WBJEEB and AICTE norms, with a valid WBJEE or JEE Main rank; diploma holders can enter the second year through JELET.

B.Tech seats are allotted through WBJEEB counselling on WBJEE ranks, with JEE Main rank holders also eligible for seats in the same counselling; any remaining seats are filled by the college under state rules.
