Overview

Sri Sairam Engineering College (SEC) was established in 1995 at Sai Leo Nagar, West Tambaram, on the south-western edge of Chennai. The campus is close to Tambaram, one of the city’s busiest suburban rail and bus hubs, and a short drive from the GST Road and the Chennai Bypass, so it is reachable from most southern suburbs. It is part of the Sairam group of institutions and should not be confused with similarly named colleges elsewhere, including one in Bengaluru.

SEC is an autonomous college affiliated to Anna University, approved by AICTE, with a NAAC A+ grade and NBA accreditation for all its UG programmes. It is placed in the NIRF 2025 Engineering rank band 151–200. B.E./B.Tech branches include CSE, CSE (AI and ML), CSE (Cyber Security), CSE (IoT), CSBS, IT, AI and Data Science, ECE, EEE, EIE, Instrumentation and Control, Mechanical, Mechatronics and Civil. M.Tech CSE and an MBA are also offered, and separate boys’ and girls’ hostels are available.

Government-quota B.E./B.Tech seats are allotted through TNEA counselling by DoTE, Tamil Nadu, on Class 12 marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, with no entrance exam; management-quota seats are filled by the college, which runs its own online registration.
