Overview

B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology (BSACIST) began as Crescent Engineering College in 1984 and became a deemed-to-be university on 16 December 2008. The campus is in Seethakathi Estate on GST Road at Vandalur, in south Chennai, between the Kilambakkam bus terminus and Vandalur Zoo. It is about 7 km from Tambaram railway station, so it is well placed for students coming from the southern suburbs and from other districts by bus.

BSACIST is a private deemed-to-be university and is placed in the NIRF 2025 Engineering 151–200 band. B.Tech programmes include Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, and Electronics and Instrumentation. It also offers Mechanical, Aerospace, Automobile, Polymer and Civil Engineering. It runs a five-year B.Arch approved by the Council of Architecture and a B.Des in interior design. There are also law, pharmacy, management, life sciences and Arabic and Islamic studies programmes. There are hostels for boys and girls.

B.Tech admission is through CIEAT (Crescent Institute Engineering Admission Test), the university’s own test, followed by counselling. Seats are not filled through TNEA.
