Overview

Chennai Institute of Technology (CIT) was established in 2010 at Kundrathur, a fast-growing suburb in south-west Chennai about 25 km from the city centre. The campus is a short drive from Porur, Pallavaram and the Chennai airport, and sits close to the Sriperumbudur and Oragadam industrial belts. Although it is one of the younger private colleges in the city, CIT has grown quickly in size and reputation, and it draws applicants from across Tamil Nadu every counselling season.

CIT is an autonomous college affiliated to Anna University, with autonomy granted in 2018, and holds a NAAC A+ grade. It is placed in the NIRF 2025 Engineering rank band 101–150. Its fourteen UG programmes include B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Civil, Mechatronics, Biomedical, Information Technology, Computer Science and Business Systems, and AI and Data Science, with some branches offering specialisations. Separate on-campus hostels for men and women are provided.

Government-quota B.E./B.Tech seats are allotted through TNEA counselling by DoTE, Tamil Nadu, on Class 12 marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, with no entrance exam, while management-quota seats are filled by the college.
