Overview

Symbiosis Institute of Technology, or SIT, was started in 2008 on the Symbiosis hill-top campus at Lavale, on the western edge of Pune and roughly 25 km from the airport. The campus, known as Symbiosis Knowledge Village, also houses several other Symbiosis institutes, so engineering students study in a mixed university setting well away from city traffic, with the Mulshi hills close by.

SIT is a constituent institute of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), which holds an A++ grade from NAAC. The university as a whole is ranked No. 46 in NIRF 2025 Engineering; the rank is listed under Symbiosis International rather than SIT alone. B.Tech branches are Computer Science, AI & Machine Learning, Electronics & Telecommunication, Mechanical, Civil, Robotics & Automation and Robotics & AI. M.Tech and PhD are offered, and hostel rooms are allotted first come, first served.

SIT admits B.Tech students through its own SIT Engineering Entrance Exam (SITEEE) and also considers JEE Main or a state government engineering entrance score such as MHT CET. Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics compulsory and a branch-specific third subject, with at least 45% aggregate (40% for reserved categories), plus a SITEEE, JEE Main or state government engineering entrance score.

Admission process

SIT admits B.Tech students on merit using SITEEE (Symbiosis's own test), JEE Main or a state government engineering entrance score; branches are allotted by merit and preference, and the offer is confirmed on payment of the first instalment.
