Overview

National Institute of Technology Delhi (NIT Delhi) was set up in 2010 as one of the newer institutes in the NIT system. It now works from its own campus on GT Karnal Road in Narela, on the northern edge of Delhi, where development of academic buildings and residential blocks is continuing. The institute admits students from all over India, with part of its intake reserved for candidates from Delhi.

NIT Delhi is an Institute of National Importance and is ranked No. 65 in the NIRF 2025 Engineering ranking. Its B.Tech branches are Computer Science & Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Electronics & Communication, VLSI Design & Technology, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Aerospace Engineering. The institute also offers M.Tech and PhD programmes, and hostel accommodation is available for students.

B.Tech admission is through JEE Main, with seats allotted in JoSAA counselling. Candidates who passed Class 12 in Delhi compete under the Home State quota and others under Other State, and the two lists close differently, so fill choices with that in mind. Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject) meeting the JoSAA 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or top-20-percentile criterion, and a valid JEE Main rank.

Admission process

B.Tech seats are allotted through JoSAA counselling on the JEE Main rank, with separate Home State (Delhi) and Other State quotas.
