Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) was founded in 1961 and occupies a large, green residential campus in Hauz Khas, South Delhi, close to the Outer Ring Road. As one of the older IITs, it draws students from every part of the country to its undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in engineering, science, design and management, and it is among the most sought-after engineering destinations for top JEE rankers.

IIT Delhi is an Institute of National Importance and is ranked No. 2 in the NIRF 2025 Engineering ranking. Its four-year B.Tech branches include Computer Science & Engineering, Mathematics & Computing, Electrical Engineering (also a Power & Automation option), Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Engineering Physics, Materials, Production & Industrial, Textile, Energy Science, Biochemical Engineering & Biotechnology, and Engineering & Computational Mechanics. It also runs M.Tech, M.Sc, MBA and PhD programmes, and students live in on-campus hostels.

Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics meeting the JoSAA/IIT performance criterion (75%, or 65% for SC/ST/PwD, or top 20 percentile of the board), and qualification in JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main.

Admission process

Qualify JEE Main, then appear in JEE Advanced; B.Tech seats at IIT Delhi are allotted through JoSAA counselling on the JEE Advanced rank.
