Overview

R.L. Jalappa Institute of Technology (RLJIT) was established in 2001 and is run by the Sri Devaraj Urs Educational Trust. Its campus is at Kodigehalli near Doddaballapur, in Bangalore Rural district on the northern fringe of the Bangalore region, well beyond Yelahanka. The setting is semi-rural and much quieter than colleges inside the city, with a large residential campus that includes sports facilities and hostels.

RLJIT is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and approved by AICTE. B.E. branches include Computer Science & Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, and the college highlights technical and soft-skills training for students. Separate hostels for boys and girls are located within the campus and, according to the college, can accommodate several hundred students between them.

Admission is through KCET and COMEDK UGET, plus management quota. Because the campus is a long way from central Bangalore, factor in either the hostel or a daily commute when you compare RLJIT with colleges inside the city. Passed 2nd PUC / Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics, with at least 45% in these subjects (40% for eligible reserved categories), and a valid KCET or COMEDK UGET rank as applicable.

Admission process

Government-quota seats are allotted through KCET counselling (KEA) and COMEDK-quota seats through COMEDK UGET counselling. Management-quota seats are handled directly by the college.
