Overview

Pre-commission officer training programmes prepare selected candidates for commissioning as officers in the Indian Armed Forces through service academies such as the NDA, IMA, OTA, INA and AFA. Training combines academic study (often leading to a B.Sc/B.A/B.Tech degree for NDA cadets), physical and military training, and leadership development over a period ranging from 11 to 49 months depending on the entry scheme and academy. Entry is through UPSC-conducted written examinations (NDA/CDS exams) followed by SSB interviews and medical examination.
