Overview

The Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal, Hyderabad was established in 1971 and is the sole institution responsible for training all officer cadets of the Indian Air Force, including pilots, navigators and ground duty officers, across various entry streams.

AFA functions under the Ministry of Defence’s Indian Air Force training command, and cadets undergo Basic Training followed by stage-specific training (flying, technical or ground duty branches) depending on their entry scheme, with the flying branch continuing on to specialized pilot training.

Admission is through the UPSC-conducted NDA & NA Examination or CDS Examination, or through the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) for technical and ground duty entries, followed by an SSB interview and medical examination. Sign up free to see fees by quota, closing ranks and placement data.
