Overview

Xavier Institute of Engineering (XIE) was established in 2005 and is located at Mahim Causeway, opposite S. L. Raheja Hospital, in the Mahim area of Mumbai. The institute is managed by the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits) and is a Roman Catholic religious-minority college. Although it is one of the younger engineering colleges in the island city, it has built its programme mix around computing, electronics and newer areas such as IoT, cyber security and artificial intelligence.

XIE is a private autonomous institute affiliated to the University of Mumbai, approved by AICTE and recognised by DTE Maharashtra, and it states NAAC ‘A+’ accreditation. B.E. branches include Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Computer Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering specialisations such as IoT and Cyber Security with Blockchain. It also offers an M.Tech in Artificial Intelligence, along with honours options in AI and machine learning for undergraduate students.

First-year seats are allotted through MHT CET scores in the Maharashtra CAP rounds run by the State CET Cell, including seats for Catholic minority candidates, and the institute publishes any CAP vacancies on its website. Passed HSC / Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics compulsory plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or a technical vocational subject, with at least 45% in these subjects (40% for eligible reserved categories from Maharashtra), and a non-zero MHT CET score.
