Overview
The National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Jaipur was established in 1976 and later accorded the status of an Institution of National Importance by an Act of Parliament in 2020, making it one of the foremost centres for Ayurvedic education, research and patient care in India.
As an Institution of National Importance, NIA has the authority to award its own degrees and its BAMS and postgraduate programmes are recognized by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM). The institute operates a large multi-specialty Ayurveda hospital, a Panchakarma centre, and dedicated research wings including a drug standardization laboratory.
