Overview
The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), founded in Kolkata in 1931 by P.C. Mahalanobis, is a world-renowned institute for statistics, mathematics, quantitative economics and computer science, declared an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament in 1959.
Its Kolkata headquarters on Barrackpore Trunk Road offers the B.Stat (Hons), M.Stat, M.Math and other postgraduate and research programmes; ISI also has centres in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Tezpur.
