Overview
Indian Institute of Information Technology Agartala (IIIT Agartala) was set up in 2018 under the public-private partnership model, with the central government, the Tripura government and industry partners as stakeholders. It is mentored by NIT Agartala and has operated from the NIT Agartala campus at Jirania, near Agartala.
IIIT Agartala is an Institute of National Importance under the IIIT (PPP) Act. B.Tech programmes are in computer science and electronics and communication engineering, taught in small batches. Hostel arrangements are made for undergraduate students.

Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject) meeting the JoSAA 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or top-20-percentile criterion, and a valid JEE Main rank.

B.Tech seats are allotted through JoSAA counselling (and CSAB special rounds for vacant seats) on the all-India JEE Main rank; IIITs have no home-state quota.
