Overview

The Government College of Art, Chandigarh, traces its lineage to the Mayo School of Industrial Art, founded in Lahore in 1875. After Partition it was re-established in Shimla in 1951 and moved to Chandigarh in 1962. Its Sector 10 campus is part of Le Corbusier’s cultural complex, next to the Government Museum and Art Gallery.

It is a Chandigarh Administration college affiliated to Panjab University. Bachelor’s and master’s degrees are offered in painting, sculpture, printmaking and applied art (visual communication), along with a diploma course in fine arts.
