Army Institute of Technology (AIT), Pune

Overview

Army Institute of Technology, or AIT, opened in 1994 on the Dighi Hills in north Pune, off the Alandi Road. It exists to educate the children of Army families, so every student is a ward of a serving or retired Army soldier or officer. That shared background, together with a compact hillside campus, gives AIT a character quite different from the city’s other engineering colleges.

AIT is permanently affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and autonomous from 2025–26. It is NAAC accredited, all its undergraduate programmes hold NBA accreditation, and it is in the NIRF 2025 Engineering 201–300 band. B.E. branches are Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Telecommunication and Mechanical Engineering. The campus has separate hostels for boys and girls.

Admission is on JEE Main merit through AIT’s own merit list, which is published on the college website about ten days after the JEE Main final ranks, and only wards of Army personnel (serving or ex-servicemen) are eligible. Eligibility

Ward of a serving or retired Army serviceman/officer, Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and a valid JEE Main score.

Admission process

AIT publishes its own merit list on the college website about ten days after the JEE Main final ranks; seats go on merit to wards of Army personnel only, with no category-based reservation.
