Overview

University of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) was founded in 1917 at the initiative of Sir M. Visvesvaraya, making it one of the oldest engineering colleges in India. Its campus is at K.R. Circle in the heart of Bangalore, next to the city’s central government offices.

For decades UVCE was a constituent college of Bangalore University. Under the University of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering Act, 2022, it became an autonomous institution of the Government of Karnataka with its own university status, modelled on the IITs. It is approved by AICTE, holds an A grade from NAAC, and offers B.E., M.E., B.Arch and M.Arch.

Eligibility

Passed 2nd PUC / Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Electronics, with at least 45% in these subjects (40% for eligible reserved categories), and a valid KCET rank as a Karnataka candidate.

Admission process

B.E. seats are allotted through KCET counselling conducted by KEA. As a government institution, UVCE has no management quota.
