Overview

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM) Kancheepuram was established in 2007 by the central government, mentored in its early years by IIT Madras. Its campus is at Melakottaiyur off the Vandalur–Kelambakkam road, on the southern edge of Chennai, close to the city’s IT corridor.

IIITDM Kancheepuram is an Institute of National Importance and is fully funded by the Ministry of Education. B.Tech programmes include computer science, electronics and communication, and mechanical engineering, with a design and manufacturing focus running through the curriculum, and dual-degree options. Hostels are provided for undergraduate students.

B.Tech seats are filled on JEE Main ranks through JoSAA counselling, with no home-state quota. Its Chennai location gives students easy access to internships in the city’s technology and manufacturing companies. Sign up free to see fees by quota, closing ranks and placement data.

Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject) meeting the JoSAA 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or top-20-percentile criterion, and a valid JEE Main rank.

Admission process

B.Tech seats are allotted through JoSAA counselling (and CSAB special rounds for vacant seats) on the all-India JEE Main rank; IIITs have no home-state quota.
