Overview

Budge Budge Institute of Technology (BBIT) was set up in 2009 on K.P. Mondal Road, Nischintapur, in Budge Budge, a riverside town in South 24 Parganas on the south-western edge of the Kolkata metro area. The Budge Budge branch line from Sealdah and road links through Behala and Thakurpukur connect it to the city. The campus is also a nodal centre for IIT Kharagpur’s virtual lab programme.

BBIT is a private college affiliated to MAKAUT, approved by AICTE and recognised under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act. It holds a NAAC B++ grade, and NBA accreditation covers the B.Tech Mechanical, Electrical, ECE and CSE programmes. It is not listed in NIRF 2025. B.Tech branches are CSE, CSE (Cyber Security), CSE (Artificial Intelligence), IT, ECE, Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering. It also runs M.Tech, MBA and diploma courses, and has large boys’ and girls’ hostels.

Eligibility

10+2 with Physics and Mathematics plus Chemistry or another eligible science/technical subject as per WBJEEB and AICTE norms, with a valid WBJEE or JEE Main rank; diploma holders can enter the second year through JELET.

Admission process

B.Tech seats are allotted through WBJEEB counselling on WBJEE ranks, with JEE Main rank holders also eligible for seats in the same counselling; any remaining seats are filled by the college under state rules.
