Overview

Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology (GCECT) dates back to 1941, when it started as the Bengal Ceramic Institute in Calcutta, and it was later known as the College of Ceramic Technology. The campus is at 73 Abinash Chandra Banerjee Lane in Beliaghata, near Rashmani Bazar in the eastern part of central Kolkata, a few minutes from the Sealdah and Phoolbagan areas.

GCECT is a government college and an autonomous institution under Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), with AICTE approval and a NAAC ‘A’ grade. B.Tech is offered in Ceramic Technology, Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology; M.Tech is available in Ceramic Technology, CSE (AI & ML) and IT, along with PhD programmes. A boys’ hostel is available for B.Tech students.
