Overview

Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) was founded in 1985 and became a deemed-to-be university in 2008. Its campus of about 150 acres is on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR) at Padur, near Kelambakkam, at the southern end of Chennai’s IT corridor. Siruseri IT park is close by. The campus is reached along OMR from Sholinganallur and Navalur, or from GST Road through Vandalur and Kelambakkam.

HITS is a private deemed-to-be university with a NAAC A+ grade. It is placed in the NIRF 2025 Engineering 101–150 band. Its B.Tech programmes include Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and Computer Science and Engineering with several specialisations, among other branches. HITS also offers a B.Arch programme, along with management, science and postgraduate courses. Students can live and eat on campus.

B.Tech admission is through HITSEEE, the university’s own engineering entrance exam, followed by allotment in order of rank. Seats are not filled through TNEA. You need Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. If you are aiming for aeronautical or aerospace engineering, register for HITSEEE early and watch the counselling schedule closely. Eligibility

Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, at least 50% aggregate (45% for reserved categories) and at least 60% in Mathematics, plus a valid HITSEEE score.

Admission process

B.Tech admission is through HITSEEE, the university's own engineering entrance exam, with seats allotted in order of HITSEEE rank; seats are not filled through TNEA.
