Overview

Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (SIST) started as an engineering college in 1987 and became a deemed-to-be university in 2001. Its campus of about 140 acres is at Jeppiaar Nagar on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR), in Sholinganallur, in the middle of Chennai’s IT corridor. Many technology companies are close by. The campus is easy to reach by the city buses along OMR and from Velachery, Thoraipakkam and the East Coast Road side of south Chennai.

Sathyabama is a private deemed-to-be university that the UGC has graded Category I. It holds a NAAC A++ grade and is ranked 67th in the NIRF 2025 Engineering list. B.E./B.Tech programmes include Computer Science and specialisations such as AI, IoT, data science and cyber security. There are also Information Technology, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical, Civil, Aeronautical, Chemical, Biomedical and Biotechnology. It also offers B.Arch, dental surgery, pharmacy, nursing, law, management and science programmes, with separate hostels for men and women.

Admission to B.E., B.Tech and B.Arch is based on your rank in SAEEE (Sathyabama All India Entrance Examination), the university’s own test. Seats are not filled through TNEA. Pass in Class 12 (or equivalent) with the required science subjects, at least 60% (or 6.0 CGPA) in Class 10, no compartment or arrears, and age criteria as per the SAEEE notice.
