Overview
Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology, known as VIIT, was founded in 2002 and is a sister institute of the Vishwakarma Institute of Technology in Bibwewadi. Its campus is at Kapil Nagar in Kondhwa Budruk, a fast-growing residential part of south-east Pune. Although it started with a strong information-technology focus, VIIT has grown into a multi-branch engineering college with both computing and core programmes.
VIIT is an autonomous institute (since 2017–18) affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), and it does not appear in the NIRF 2025 Engineering list. B.Tech branches include Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics & Telecommunication, Mechanical and Civil Engineering, along with newer computing programmes such as Artificial Intelligence & Data Science. Hostels for boys and girls are available near the campus.
Admission to the first year is through the State CET Cell’s CAP rounds on MHT CET scores, with All India seats on JEE Main. VIIT and VIT Pune are separate institutes with separate CAP choice codes, so check that you have picked the right one on your option form. Class 12 (HSC) with Physics and Mathematics plus Chemistry or another allowed subject, meeting the Maharashtra State CET Cell's minimum marks, and a valid MHT CET score (or JEE Main for All India seats).
