Overview

Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) was founded in 1887, making it one of the oldest engineering institutions in India. Its campus lies on H. R. Mahajani Marg in Matunga, central Mumbai, within easy reach of the Matunga and Dadar suburban stations. Originally known as the Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute, it was later renamed after Veermata Jijabai and today offers degree, postgraduate and diploma programmes across engineering and technology.

VJTI is a government-aided autonomous institute affiliated to the University of Mumbai, autonomous since 2004, and is placed in the NIRF 2025 Engineering 101–150 band. B.Tech branches include Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical, Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Mechanical, Production, Civil and Textile Technology. The institute also runs M.Tech, MCA, PhD and diploma programmes, and hostel accommodation is available for students.

First-year B.Tech seats are allotted through the State CET Cell’s CAP rounds, on MHT CET for Maharashtra seats and JEE Main for All-India seats. Eligibility

Class 12 (HSC) with Physics and Mathematics plus Chemistry or another permitted subject, meeting Maharashtra CAP minimum marks, and a valid MHT CET score (Maharashtra seats) or JEE Main score (All-India seats).
