<p>SNDT Women’s University was founded in 1916 by social reformer Maharshi Dhondo Keshav Karve, making it India’s first women’s university. Headquartered in Mumbai with a campus in Pune as well, it has long focused on expanding higher education access for women.</p><p>SNDT Women’s University is a State University established by an act of the Maharashtra legislature and recognized by the UGC.
