<p>Jamia Hamdard was established in 1989 at New Delhi, evolving from the Hamdard Dawakhana founded in 1906, and was declared a deemed-to-be university in 1989. It is known especially for its programmes in pharmacy, Unani medicine and allied health sciences.</p><p>Jamia Hamdard is a Deemed-to-be University recognized by the UGC, with its pharmacy programmes approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and its Unani medicine programmes approved by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM).
