<p>Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) was founded in 1920 at Aligarh and later shifted to Delhi, becoming a central university in 1988. It has grown into a large multidisciplinary institution known for its programmes in mass communication, engineering, humanities and Islamic studies.</p><p>JMI is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament and recognized by the UGC, with its engineering programmes approved by AICTE and its law and other professional programmes carrying relevant council approvals.
