Overview
The Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun was established in 1922 and is India’s oldest military school, providing boys (and, from 2022, girls) aged 11.5 to 13 years a residential school education specifically designed to prepare them for future entry into the National Defence Academy and, ultimately, the officer corps of the Armed Forces.
RIMC functions under the Ministry of Defence and follows the CBSE curriculum from Class 8 to Class 12, supplemented with military-style training, drill, sports and outdoor activities aimed at all-round development. Successful cadets typically go on to join the NDA or other service academies.
