Overview

The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi was established in 2017 by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, as an apex institution for Ayurveda on the lines of AIIMS — combining teaching, research and clinical service under one roof. It was conceived to project Ayurveda as a scientifically credible, evidence-based system of medicine and to set benchmarks for Ayurvedic education, standardized treatment protocols and drug research across the country.

AIIA is an autonomous institute directly under the Ministry of AYUSH and its BAMS and postgraduate programmes are recognized by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM). The institute runs a full-fledged multi-specialty Ayurveda hospital, panchakarma facility and drug testing laboratory, and collaborates with national research bodies including the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS).

Admission to the BAMS programme at AIIA is through NEET-UG followed by counselling conducted by the Ministry of AYUSH (Ayush Admissions Central Counselling Committee), while postgraduate and PhD admissions follow AIAPGET and separate institutional processes.
