Overview

University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Kolkata is a private university set up under a West Bengal state Act of 2014 and run by the IEM-UEM Group, the same group behind the Institute of Engineering & Management in Salt Lake. Its campus is in Action Area III of New Town, the planned smart-city township on Kolkata’s north-eastern edge, only a short drive from the city’s international airport, which makes it easy to reach for students arriving from other states.

UEM is a private university (degree-awarding) recognised by the UGC under Section 22 of the UGC Act, and its engineering programmes carry AICTE approval. B.Tech courses span Computer Science and its specialisations, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical and Biotechnology. Beyond engineering, the university runs BCA, MCA, BBA, MBA and law programmes, and it also offers doctoral research. Hostel accommodation is available for students who need to stay near the New Town campus.

B.Tech admission is open through UEMJEE, the university’s own entrance test, as well as WBJEE and JEE Main scores, with applications made directly to UEM rather than through WBJEEB counselling.
