Overview

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat was established in 1961 as the Sardar Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering and Technology and became an NIT in 2002. Its campus is at Ichchhanath on the Dumas Road side of Surat, a fast-growing industrial city in south Gujarat known for its diamond and textile trades.

SVNIT is an Institute of National Importance placed at NIRF 2025 Engineering rank 66, and the only NIT in Gujarat. B.Tech programmes include computer science, artificial intelligence, electronics and communication, electrical, mechanical, chemical and civil engineering. Hostels are provided for undergraduate students.

B.Tech seats are filled on JEE Main ranks through JoSAA counselling, with separate Home State (Gujarat) and Other State quotas. Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject) meeting the JoSAA 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or top-20-percentile criterion, and a valid JEE Main rank.

Admission process

B.Tech seats are allotted through JoSAA counselling (and CSAB special rounds for vacant seats) on the JEE Main rank, with 50% Home State (Gujarat) and 50% Other State quotas.
