Overview

RV University (RVU) was established in 2021 under the RV University Act, 2019, passed by the Karnataka legislature. It is promoted by the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST), which also runs RV College of Engineering, and its campus shares the RV Vidyanikethan Post address at 8th Mile, Mysuru Road, in south-west Bangalore, with Pattanagere the nearest metro station. RVU is separate from RVCE, which is a VTU-affiliated college with its own admissions.

RVU is a private state university that awards its own degrees and is not affiliated to VTU. Its School of Computer Science and Engineering offers a four-year B.Tech (Hons) in Computer Science and Engineering with tracks in AI & Machine Learning, Data Science and Engineering, Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity, and students can add minors from the university’s business, design, economics and film schools. BCA (Hons) programmes are also offered, and the campus has separate hostels for boys and girls.

B.Tech seats are filled through KCET (government quota, allotted by KEA), JEE Main and RVU’s own online application and selection process, including RVSAT, plus management seats. Passed Class 12 / 2nd PUC with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with the aggregate required by the university (60% stated for CSE), plus a KCET rank, a JEE Main score or selection through RVU's own process.
