Overview

M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS) was established in 2013 as a private university under an Act of the Karnataka legislature. Its Faculty of Engineering and Technology runs from the Peenya campus in the Peenya Industrial Area, north-west Bangalore, while the university’s administrative office is at the Gnanagangothri campus on New BEL Road, MSR Nagar. RUAS is a separate institution from Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT), which is a VTU-affiliated college with its own admissions.

As a degree-awarding private university, RUAS awards its own B.Tech degrees and is not affiliated to VTU. It holds an A+ grade from NAAC and lists AICTE approval and UGC recognition. B.Tech branches include Computer Science & Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Information Science, Mathematics & Computing, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Automotive and Robotics. A newer Ramaiah University College of Engineering at Jigani adds computing and electronics branches. The university also runs management, pharmacy, dental, design and law faculties, with separate hostels for boys and girls.

Admission is through KCET, COMEDK UGET and JEE Main, or through the university’s own online test, RUAS-AT, plus direct and management seats. Candidates with valid KCET, COMEDK or JEE scores are exempt from RUAS-AT but must still submit the university’s application form. Passed Class 12 / 2nd PUC with Physics and Mathematics plus Chemistry or another permitted subject, with the minimum marks set by the university, and a valid KCET, COMEDK UGET, JEE Main or RUAS-AT result.
