Overview

National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand (NIT Uttarakhand) was established in 2009 and started classes in 2010, mentored in its early years by IIT Roorkee. It runs from Srinagar in Pauri Garhwal district, a town on the Alaknanda river along the Rishikesh–Badrinath highway, while its permanent campus is being developed in the region.

NIT Uttarakhand is an Institute of National Importance. It was not placed in the NIRF 2025 Engineering top 100. B.Tech programmes include computer science, electronics and communication, electrical, mechanical and civil engineering, and hostels are provided for undergraduate students.

B.Tech seats are filled on JEE Main ranks through JoSAA counselling, with separate Home State (Uttarakhand) and Other State quotas. Rishikesh, about 100 km away, is the nearest major rail head. Sign up free to see fees by quota, closing ranks and placement data.

Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject) meeting the JoSAA 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or top-20-percentile criterion, and a valid JEE Main rank.

Admission process

B.Tech seats are allotted through JoSAA counselling (and CSAB special rounds for vacant seats) on the JEE Main rank, with 50% Home State (Uttarakhand) and 50% Other State quotas.
