Overview

National Institute of Technology Raipur (NIT Raipur) began in 1956 as the Government College of Engineering and Technology, Raipur, and was converted into an NIT in 2005. Its campus is on the Great Eastern Road in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, close to the city centre and the railway station.

NIT Raipur is an Institute of National Importance placed at NIRF 2025 Engineering rank 86. Its long history in mining and metallurgy reflects Chhattisgarh’s mineral economy, and B.Tech programmes include computer science, information technology, electronics and communication, electrical, mechanical, chemical, civil, metallurgical, mining and biomedical engineering, with B.Arch as well. Hostels are provided for undergraduate students.

Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject) meeting the JoSAA 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or top-20-percentile criterion, and a valid JEE Main rank.

Admission process

B.Tech seats are allotted through JoSAA counselling (and CSAB special rounds for vacant seats) on the JEE Main rank, with 50% Home State (Chhattisgarh) and 50% Other State quotas. B.Arch uses the JEE Main architecture paper.
