National Institute of Technology Nagaland (NIT Nagaland), Dimapur

Overview

National Institute of Technology Nagaland (NIT Nagaland) was established in 2009 and started classes in 2010. Its campus is at Chumukedima, next to Dimapur, Nagaland’s commercial hub, which has the state’s only railway station and airport, making it the most accessible of the smaller north-eastern NITs.

NIT Nagaland is an Institute of National Importance. It was not placed in the NIRF 2025 Engineering top 100. B.Tech programmes include computer science, electronics and communication, electrical and electronics, electronics and instrumentation, mechanical and civil engineering. Hostels are provided for undergraduate students.

B.Tech seats are filled on JEE Main ranks through JoSAA counselling, with separate Home State (Nagaland) and Other State quotas. Sign up free to see fees by quota, closing ranks and placement data.

Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject) meeting the JoSAA 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or top-20-percentile criterion, and a valid JEE Main rank.

Admission process

B.Tech seats are allotted through JoSAA counselling (and CSAB special rounds for vacant seats) on the JEE Main rank, with 50% Home State (Nagaland) and 50% Other State quotas.
