Overview
Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology Jalandhar (NIT Jalandhar) was established in 1987 as the Regional Engineering College, Jalandhar, and became an NIT in 2002. The campus is on the Grand Trunk Road bypass on the outskirts of Jalandhar, Punjab, with Amritsar and Ludhiana both within easy reach.
NIT Jalandhar is an Institute of National Importance placed at NIRF 2025 Engineering rank 55. B.Tech programmes include computer science, information technology, electronics and communication, electrical, instrumentation and control, mechanical, industrial and production, chemical, civil, textile technology and biotechnology. Hostels are provided for undergraduate students.

Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject) meeting the JoSAA 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or top-20-percentile criterion, and a valid JEE Main rank.
Admission process
B.Tech seats are allotted through JoSAA counselling (and CSAB special rounds for vacant seats) on the JEE Main rank, with 50% Home State (Punjab) and 50% Other State quotas.
