Overview

National Institute of Technology Goa (NIT Goa) was established in 2010 among the ten new NITs set up that year. After years in temporary premises, it now operates from its permanent campus of about 300 acres at Cuncolim in South Goa district, roughly 30 km south of Panaji and close to Margao.

NIT Goa is an Institute of National Importance. It was not placed in the NIRF 2025 Engineering top 100. B.Tech programmes include computer science, electronics and communication, electrical, mechanical and civil engineering, and hostels are provided for undergraduate students.

B.Tech seats are filled on JEE Main ranks through JoSAA counselling. Half the seats are reserved for Goan (Home State) candidates and half for Other State candidates, and the Other State CSE seat closed at about 13,600 in 2025, earlier than several higher-ranked NITs. Eligibility

Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics (plus Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or a technical vocational subject) meeting the JoSAA 75% (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or top-20-percentile criterion, and a valid JEE Main rank.

Admission process

B.Tech seats are allotted through JoSAA counselling (and CSAB special rounds for vacant seats) on the JEE Main rank, with 50% Home State (Goa) and 50% Other State quotas.
